The nose will benefit from decanting. There are notes of crushed blackberry, pulpy blackcurrant and, more slightly, violet combined with nuances of liquorice as well as fine camphor and a very discreet touch of pepper.
The palate is fresh, mineral (racy minerality), balanced and offers a juicy/fresh frame, roundness, fat and fresh acidity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/fresh blackcurrant, pulpy/fresh raspberry and more slightly of violet combined with hints of tonka bean, fresh hazelnut and a subtle hint of fresh flowers. Good length.

As I remarked from barrel, the 2019 Pontey feels a little overripe on the nose, - not by much, but the growing season really dictates the aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet entry, and better balanced than the nose suggests, although the finish needs more delineation and tension.
