This wine is characterised by grace and elegance. The bouquet is full and ethereal of ripe fruit and cherries in alcohol accompanied by typical nuances of the Mediterranean scrub such as lavender, thyme and wild mint. On the palate it has a very large and sweet opening. The silky tannin spreads a dense texture accompanied by a warm and lively body where notes of fresh coconut and sweet spices such as cinnamon persist.

Sweet cedar and floral tones waft up, mixing with gingery spice and hints of confectioners sugar as the single-vineyard Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Poggetto di Sopra opens in the glass. Its soft and enveloping, with contrasting notes of sour citrus and wild berry that drench the senses, leaving purple-tinged flowers in their wake. This coats the palate in youthful concentration, both primary fruit and liquid violet tones, along with grippy tannins. There's so much intensity and depth here, likely the result of the warm vintage; but with a few years of cellaring, the 2017 Poggetto di Sopra should find a lovely balance.
