Violet, rose, ripe berry and minty aromas mingle with earthy whiffs of truffle, leather and game. The delicious, juicy palate doles out fleshy Marasca cherry, crushed black raspberry, licorice and tobacco framed in chewy, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2020-2027.

The 2015 Barolo Tortoniano is a solid, entry-level offering in this range. Sweet pipe tobacco, anise, mint and dried flowers add nuance to a core of super-ripe red cherry fruit. The 2015 is a bit burly and rough around the edges, but it has plenty of character and will certainly do just fine for near and medium term drinking.
